Walsh/DeMaria Joint Venture V of Chicago has been awarded a $98.8 million contract to build a new rehabilitation facility and parking garage on the campus of the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.  Construction is scheduled to be completed in spring 2014.  The three-story facility will be LEED Silver equivalency.   The Rehabilitation Center includes 24 beds for the polytrauma program, 32 beds for the blind rehabilitation program, and 12 beds for the polytrauma transitional rehabilitation program.  The 600-car, four-story parking garage will be constructed adjacent to the new facility to support the growing demand for onsite parking.

SMITHGROUP's design includes "Rose Patinated" terracotta and stainless steel closures at the glazing openings.  Walsh/DeMaria chose ProCLAD to furnish and install the building façade because of their healthcare and rainscreen systems experience, and most notably for their rigorous quality assurance protocol.  "Our integrated approach to engineering and executing terracotta systems was an important factor in the Walsh team choosing our company for the project.  We work hard at doing the transitions from terracotta to glazing the right way," said Craig Caudill, EVP of ProCLAD.
