ProCLAD has recently completed a complex perforated profile panel parking garage located near the Police Headquarters and attached to the Fayette County Clerk's office in downtown Lexington. ProCLAD collaborated with Gary Means (Executive Director) and Ed Trammell (Planning and Project Manager) of the Lexington & Fayette County Parking Authority (LEXPARK) during the design phase. This was an essential part of the product selection and engineering process. Drawings needed to be closely followed during field installation due to the complexity of the project. The garage has 280 spaces which is very valuable to the downtown area and remained open during construction.
The façade design was intended to enhance Main Street with its modern appearance. During construction the name was changed to Helix Parking Garage, to highlight the spiraling exit ramp. The project features square and rectangular perforated stainless steel panels and aluminum composite panels of varying sizes supported by a subframing assembly. The façade is back-lit with 80 LED lights that illuminate different colors at night.
